POP, by London based visual artist Grazie, is an original artwork on canvas. It’s painted with acrylic paint and finished in spray paint.
Originally from New Zealand, her distinct style blends a number of factors. Inspiration comes from fashion, music and pop culture to create works that are impactful and evocative. However, she repeatedly turns to a distinct colour palette. This brings to life a series of bold pieces that merge underlying elements of pop, street and abstract art. POP is a great example of this.
In addition to this, Grazie’s style is easily recognised by her portrayal of popular imagery and icons through a faceless painting style. She references many of her favourite artists in her work. Often combining art history with contemporary figures and settings.
POP is based on a famous Patrick Demarchelier photograph of Kate Moss and Carla Bruni.
Grazie on her influencers for POP and her other paintings:
My influences are rather varied. They include David La Chappelle, Andy Warhol, Tom Wesselman, and Keith Haring. I utilise popular branding and fashion magazines.
