Dangerous Idea 2020 is part of a pair of exclusive limited edition prints created by The Connor Brothers. In collaboration with TI Media. Publishers of LivingEtc, Wallpaper*, and several other magazines.
Runway Gallery was able to organise that the artists had exclusive access to TI Media’s back catalogue of magazines and images. In this library dating back to the 1800s, is a plethora of articles and illustrations. Many of the graphics are from the 1930s-1970s used to highlight stories and articles in previous publications.
One of the things that makes Dangerous Idea 2020 is the image has only ever been used for the magazine. Making it ideal for this collaboration.
The Connor Brothers burst onto the art scene in 2013. Their re-workings of vintage Mills & Boon book covers and witty texts captured the preoccupations of our millennial world. The Missouri-born twins, Franklyn and Brendan, were raised within a secretive Christian cult called ‘TheFamily’. They ran away at 16, traveling across America on freight trains before settling in Brooklyn. Their art came about as they tried to ‘make sense of the world’ they’d been deprived of. All pretty compelling stuff. Except that, just like a Mills & Boon romance, the story is pure fiction. The pair, Mike Snelle and James Golding, are in fact childhood friends who both share troubled pasts.
